The 27th International Conference on Asia-Pacific Digital Libraries (ICADL 2025)

December 3 - 5, 2025. Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines

“Intelligence and Equity: Shaping the Future of Knowledge”

The International Conference on Asia-Pacific Digital Libraries (ICADL), which started in Hong Kong in 1998 and over the years traveled many countries in the Asia-Pacific region, is a major digital library conference. Along with JCDL and TPDL, ICADL is held annually as one of the three top venues for connecting digital library, computer science, and library and information science communities. This year, ICADL 2025 will be hosted by the University of the Philippines School of Library and Information Studies (UP SLIS). The conference will take place from December 3rd to 5th, 2025, at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Metro Manila, Philippines as an in-person event at the UP BGC campus.
ICADL 2025 will be co-located with the 12th Asia-Pacific Conference on Library Information Education and Practice (A-LIEP 2025, http://a-liep.org) and the annual meeting of Asia-Pacific chapter of iSchools (AP-iSchools; https://ischools.org/) under a collective title “2025 International Forum on Data, Information, and Knowledge for Sustainable and Ethical Societies” (IFDIK 2025; https://ifdik2025.com/). ICADL 2025 will provide an excellent international forum for researchers from not only Asia-Pacific regions but also all over the world to meet people with different backgrounds but common research interests to exchange their cutting-edge knowledge, experience and practices in various relevant issues in digital libraries, Library and Information Science (LIS), and other related fields.

Call for Papers

In an era of rapid technological advancements and evolving knowledge ecosystems, the interplay between intelligence and equity has become more critical than ever. As artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, and open knowledge initiatives continue to redefine information access and organization, it is imperative to ensure that these developments remain ethical, inclusive, and user-centered. This conference seeks to explore how intelligent technologies, knowledge infrastructures, and equitable policies can drive innovation while addressing the challenges of accessibility, interoperability, and trust in knowledge environments. We invite scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to contribute insights, research, and solutions that foster the responsible growth of knowledge systems in an increasingly digital world.

Topics of interest
We welcome submissions on diverse topics related to digital libraries, including, but not limited to:

  • Human-Centered AI and Ethical AI Development – Exploring AI applications in knowledge access while ensuring fairness, transparency, and user empowerment.
  • User Studies and Information Behavior – Understanding how individuals and communities seek, use, and interact with digital knowledge resources.
  • Knowledge Infrastructures and Long-Term Access – Developing responsible, scalable strategies for digital preservation, resource management, and knowledge dissemination.
  • Equity and Inclusion in Knowledge Access – Addressing barriers in digital literacy, accessibility, and diverse information needs.
  • Metadata, Ontologies, and Knowledge Organization – Enhancing discoverability, interoperability, and structured representation of knowledge.
  • Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in Knowledge Environments – Improving usability, interface design, and interactive experiences in knowledge systems.
  • AI-Powered and Algorithmic Knowledge Discovery – Examining the role of machine learning and recommendation systems in information retrieval.
  • Digital Archives and Cultural Heritage Preservation – Strategies for digitizing, organizing, and providing access to cultural and historical materials.
  • Data Governance, Privacy, and Trust – Addressing ethical data management, user rights, and security in digital knowledge ecosystems.
  • Open Science, Open Data, and Collaborative Networks – Encouraging interdisciplinary, transparent, and community-driven knowledge sharing.

We invite submissions in the following categories:

  • Full Papers (12-14 pages + references) – Presenting original research contributions, theoretical developments, or innovative methodologies.
  • Short Papers (6-8 pages + references) – Reporting preliminary findings, ongoing research, or novel ideas.
  • Practice Papers (6-8 pages + references) – Showcasing real-world applications, case studies, or industry experiences.
  • Demo/Poster Papers (4-6 pages + references) – Demonstrating new technologies, prototypes, or early-stage research.

Submission

All submissions must be formatted according to the conference and Springer Computer Science Proceedings guidelines (https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-guidelines) and will undergo a peer-review process.

All papers are to be submitted via the conference’s EasyChair submission system (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icadl2025).

The review process is double-blind. At least 3 Program Committee members will review each submission. The review for practice paper submissions will put less emphasis on the novelty and more on real world practices and applications of DL technologies in institutions or companies. Sufficient time will be given to the oral presentation for accepted papers in all submission categories during the in-person conference proper. Each accepted paper must be presented by at least one of the co-authors attending the conference physically on site.

Proceedings of ICADL 2025 are going to be published by Springer as an LNCS volume, which is indexed by Scopus.

The Best Paper and the Best Student Paper will be awarded by the Program Committee and selected among the accepted full papers. Candidates for the Best Student Paper award should have students as first authors.
